The long road, still being played
Some musicians collect years; Son Lewis has worn them in. Since the 1960s and '70s he has carried blues and Americana from stage to stage — as a performer, a bandleader, and the founder of the Silk City label — letting every room teach him something the last one didn't.
These days the work runs in three directions: live performances booked season by season, composition and sync work written for film and television, and Bluesography, a library programme tracing how the blues shaped the music America grew up on.
